What To Do Over Winter Break

Hey guys! I'm back! So first semester of school is finally over and now it is time for us college students to get some hard earned rest, unless you work in which case I totally feel you. Although, we all deserve to rest up a bit and catch some zzzzzzzz's. I definitely think Winter Break can be a great time to be productive. Here's some things you can do over Winter Break!

  • Take a Winter Class- Whether you are actually behind in classes or you want to graduate a little early, I think it would be smart to take a Winter class. Especially if you take an Online class, that way you don't have to drive to your campus. In addition, taking an online class makes the transition smoother when you have to return back to school. Take advantage of scholarships your school might offer, since we all know winter classes are super expensive!

  • Get a Job- I know work sucks but even getting a seasonal job where you only work during the break can be very helpful when you have to buy books for the next semester or when your friends want to hang out. In addition, you can get some work experience that you can add to your resume.
  • Learn something new- If you're not taking a winter class or working, you can take some time off your day to learn something new, whether it is learning calligraphy, how to code, learning to knit, or even learn a new language. There is always a lot of fun new things you can learn, and you have a whole month to do so!
  • Spend some time with Friends- A lot of my friends do not attend my college, so over Winter Break we like to meet up and hang out. It is nice to hear what everyone is doing and catching up!

  • Spend time with Family- Your family might not be able to take a trip to Disneyland or Lake Tahoe, but that's alright because you can still find fun free things to do in your city. You can go iceskating, go to the movies, or simply bake cookies and watch a Christmas movie together. It is specially important to not take your family for granted during the holidays. Try to tell them how much you love them as often as you can. Your parents do a lot for you!
  • Start applying for Internships over the Summer- A lot of summer internships start to post their applications soon or might even have deadlines as early as February, so make sure to start your applications early and take some time each day to work on them. That way you don't have to basically finish the whole thing in a week.
  • Read-If you have the time, try to pick up some books at your local library. I find reading books very relaxing and I also just really enjoy learning new things from books. Reading a book can instantly transport you to a new world and it can at least make your worries go away for some time.

  • Rest- As much as I think we should be productive during Winter Break, I also think that we need to rest up and enjoy some down time to ourselves. Sit down, put some comfy clothes on,  drink some tea, and spend some time in your own company. Unplug for a minute and just take a moment to breathe in and out and count your blessings, even when there doesn't seem to be any, there is always things to be grateful for.

Alright guys! Those are just some suggestions on what you can do over Winter Break. I hope you guys enjoy your free time and have fun!

7 Things You Can Do in High School in Order to be Prepared for College

So now that I am a soon-to-be Junior in college, I think it's safe to say that I have a few tricks and tips off my sleeve on how to do well in High School. Here is a few you need to know: 1. Get a planner - I know, I know. I have talked about this before, but I swear by it. It helps keep track of future assignments and test, that way I can plan my week ahead of time. Some of you, might have great memory but getting a planner is still a helpful way to keep organized, specially in college when you think you have all this extra time. 2. Don't cram for test- Now I'm not saying to start studying a week in advanced but maybe just start studying a little like two days before the test. Exams are worth a lot in college, so it is important that you do your very best on them. 3. Study in short increments- I am sure you overachievers might have heard about The Pomodoro Method. Essentially it is a way of studying in which you study for say 45 mins and then you take a break fo...

5 Things To Do Over The Summer

Hey guys! It is officially the first day of summer, and I'm going to share with you 5 things that I think are important to do over the summer. 1. Chill with Friends When you get a chance, try to make time to hang out with friends. Even just a few times over the summer can be a great chance to catch up and talk about the school year, specially with friends that go to schools that are far away from you. You will find that nothing has really changed, and you are all still the best of friends. 2. Spend time with family Parents aren't always the best, but they do want what is best for us, so it is important to also dedicate some time for them and go places together as a family. You do not have to go to a fancy vacation, as long as you have lunch with your mom or just accompany your dad when he runs some errands, that is good enough. 3. Get a job/Internship I know it is not easy to get a job, but if you can, try to find something to do over the summer. Preferably someth...
